If U Care Share was founded in 2005 after the loss of Daniel O’Hare. What started as one family’s mission to prevent others from feeling that same pain has grown into a vital lifeline for the North East. Based in County Durham, they focus on three clear goals: saving lives, supporting communities and preventing suicide.
Their work spans the entire North East, from the Scottish Border down to North Yorkshire. They provide essential postvention support for those affected by suicide and lead prevention initiatives across County Durham. Beyond the clinic, they are the official life skills partners of the Premier League and Football League, delivering workshops that tackle emotional wellbeing head-on.
If U Care Share exists to make sure no one has to face the aftermath of suicide alone. Carl knows that better than most.
Carl Norton is our Regional Business Manager for the North, and the driving force behind Fix Auto UK's Mental Health First Aid programme. Since 2022, he's trained over 200 people across the Fix Auto UK Group to recognise and respond to mental health challenges. He volunteers for the Samaritans in his own time. He shows up, consistently, for this cause.
In 2023, Carl and his wife Anne lost their son Thomas. Thomas was 25. Bright, funny, kind, and taken too soon. Carl’s raised thousands for If U Care Share, including £7,500 from completing the Great North Run. A man, by his own admission, more familiar with the sofa than the start line. He ran every one of those 13.1 miles with Thomas in mind.
