2026 Apprentice of the Year Winners
CUSTOMER CHAMPION OF THE YEAR
Fix Auto Ayr
ARIA MCTAGGART
Aria has made an impressive start as an Apprentice VDA at Fix Auto Ayr, showing remarkable dedication and professionalism. She attends the Thatcham Research Facility for her intensive training, embracing the challenge of learning in a demanding and highly technical role. Entering the motor industry as a young woman, particularly in a role historically dominated by men, is no easy task—but Aria is proving that talent, determination, and skill know no gender.
On top of this, Aria faces the unique challenge of working within her father’s business, which adds a layer of complexity to her apprenticeship. Despite this, she approaches her responsibilities with exceptional maturity and focus. She communicates confidently and professionally with insurance engineers, Insurance Area Network Managers, and her Regional Business Manager, demonstrating a level of composure beyond her years.
Aria’s dedication, professionalism, and ability to rise to challenges make her a standout candidate for the Young Apprentice Award. She is an inspiring example of the next generation excelling in the motor industry

TECHNICAL HERO OF THE YEAR
ASHLEIGH STONE-GOLDING
Fix Auto Wrexham
Ashleigh should win Fix Auto UK Apprentice of the Year as a MET because she represents everything the award stands for — skill, determination, professionalism, and progression at Fix Auto Wrexham.
As a Mechanical, Electrical and Trim (MET) apprentice, Ashleigh consistently demonstrates outstanding technical ability. She approaches every vehicle with precision and care, ensuring components are removed, repaired, and refitted to manufacturer standards. Her attention to detail, organisation, and understanding of modern vehicle systems show maturity well beyond her apprenticeship level. She works confidently with safety components, and interior fittings, always prioritising quality and safety.
What makes Ashleigh particularly deserving of this nomination is her resilience and professionalism in a traditionally male-dominated workshop environment. She thrives under pressure, maintains high standards, and earns the respect of colleagues through her work ethic and competence. Rather than simply fitting in, she stands out — proving that skill, commitment, and attitude define success in the industry, not gender.
Ashleigh is also a positive role model for future apprentices, especially young women considering a career in the motor trade. Her determination, confidence, and willingness to continuously learn demonstrate that the industry is evolving, and she is helping lead that change.
Through her technical excellence, strong character, and contribution to workshop culture, Ashleigh is an exceptional nominee and a truly deserving winner of the Fix Auto UK Apprentice of the Year award as an MET apprentice.
